It's the weekend before Thanksgiving and my heart is filled up with the sights and sounds of the week gone by and my eyes lift upward toward my King!
As I select the words to describe God's power displayed in the last 54 hours my hands reach for my bible and the description I'm searching for jumps off the page -
"I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains?
No, my strength comes from GOD, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.
He won't let you stumble, your Guardian God won't fall asleep.
Not on your life! Israel's Guardian will never doze or sleep!
GOD's your Guardian, right at your side to protect you -
Shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moonstroke.
GOD guards you from every evil, He guards your very life. He guards you when you leave and when you return, He guards you now and He guards you always."
(Psalm 121 from Eugene Peterson's paraphrase "The Message")
This past Tuesday night during our Naomi's Daughters program we witnessed God's presence in our midst as the psalmist describes above. The enemy of our souls arrived in our midst uninvited. His intent was for evil; to bring divison and confusion. God's intent was for good; that His power and authority would be displayed without question, in order that unbelief would be turned to belief!
Dear friends, reviewing these recent events gives greater meaning to
Psalm 105:1 - "O give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples."
May we never forget - it's my prayer

A Word and The Word
This morning as I refresh and review for the final week of our staff study:
"Sweeter Than Chocolate" written by Pam Gillaspie, I'm struck with the revelation of God's providential hand at using Psalm 119 as a pivot point to revive my heart and stregthen my condfidence in His Word.
We've been taking a "lingering" study of this powerful book in the bible. And it has been delicious to taste and see the glorious riches He has planted for us as we walk on with our Mighty God!
As I begin the final lesson of our study the Lord blessed me with verse 119:50 as I opened Daily Light - "Your Word has given me life!"
That verse tells my story in a "nutshell".
Where in God's Word are you today? May you treasure His precepts above every other thing in your life.
It's my prayer,
Judy

Tasting and Seeing
There is a crispness in the air this morning..Fall IS here in the land of sunshine.
My mind goes back to earlier years in my life. Fall has a special place there. It is the one season that the memories even hold scents. The scent of leaves turning on the trees and falling to the ground; those were days of raking piles of leaves and jumping in them when a child in upstate New York. A friend and I would make outlines of a playhouse on our lawn and play until we tired. Wonderful apples falling from the trees in my grandmother's side yard and the squash ripening in the garden! It was a warm and fuzzy time in my life and it is good to remember.
As I remember I'm prompted to remember my early days with Jesus. They were chidlike but constant. And in looking back I see clearly how He loved and protected me even when I was oblivious to His presence in my life.
When the Isrealites crossed the Jordan under Joshua's leadership the Lord commanded Joshua to choose 12 men, one from each tribe and command them to take up 12 stones (one each) from the middle of the river bed and carry them with them to the other side where they woud lodge that night. The place where they camped after coming up from the river was Gilgal and Joshua set the 12 stones up in that place as a memorial to God's presence and deliverance ..."that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the Lord is mighty, so that you may fear the Lord your God forever". (Read the full story in Joshua chapters 3 an 4)
Sixteen years ago the Lord performed a "River Jordan" deliverance in my life. After 32 years in bondage to a habit that was threatening to interfere with God's purposes for me..our Mighty God appeared upon the crystal blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico in a symphony of light and confirmed to me that He would provide all the strength I would need to put that habit down! Now when I see dancing lights upon a body of water I am reminded of that special day when indeed God's hand was mighty in my life!
My prayer for you today dear one is that you will take some time to remember the ways God's hand has been mighty in your life and then I'd love for you to share it with me.
In Him,
Judy

Heaven's Nourishment
Looking out my sliding glass door I see the raindrops of last night clinging to the leaves of my plants in my patio. When the earth needs replenishing, the Lord opens the heavens and pours forth His rain! Everything this morning looks newer, greener and more beautiful!
It is my life experience that when I have received God's pouring forth out of heaven upon my weary and thirsty heart and soul...I am new again in Him...I see more clearly..I have more energy....and my desire is to live according to His will.
So here I am, another day with Jesus, treasuring His Word, anticipating His direction and secure in His love! As I step out into His plan for today I am challenged by the psalmist's cry in Psalm 119:97 -
"O how I love Thy law! It is my meditation all the day."
Oh Lord, may my heart be totally devoted to You and Your Word this day!
My prayer is the same for you friend!

Good Night
Another day nearly gone and my heart and mind turn to my God. I'm reminded of the Almighty's's hand on my life when I read the following -
"I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He brought me out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. And he put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;....."Many oh Lord my God, are the wonders which Thou hast done, and Thy thoughts toward us; there is none to compare with Thee; If I would declare and speak of them they would be too numerous to count." (Psalm 40:1-3a, 5)
Everything I am and everything I have is because of Him!!! Is He your Savior? It's my prayer.
